1 "She seems so cool, so focused, so quiet, yet her eyes remain fixed upon the horizon. You think you know all there is to know about her immediately upon meeting her, but everything you think you know is wrong." Neil Gaiman, Fragile Things
2 I think she's caught between who she is and who she wants to be.
3 "You tried to change, didn't you? Closed your mouth more, tried to be softer, prettier, less volatile, less awake...You can't make homes out of human beings. Someone should have already told you that." Warsan Shire

Do we ever really know someone completely? Can we ever really know ourselves consistently?
i'm not sure i recognize myself one time every month. thanks to lovely hormones. ha.
ReplyDeleteFantastic triad of thoughts. There is such a craving for the solid; something to hold onto, in others and even within ourselves. But it is all moving, always, endlessly.
ReplyDeletewe are always changing as we become familiar something changes, internally or externally and the picture is squeezed and formed into something new to discover! It's a wonderful and also terrifying part of life xxxx
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies for your thoughts. Totally agree, we are always changing. And most of the time, I'm thankful for it. But there are those moments where I just wish I could freeze time. Really know someone and really know myself through other people's eyes.
ReplyDeleteI've always found it interesting that for the most part, I feel like I try to be who I am--not trying to mold too much to either what is expected of me or what I think I should or want to be--but different situations bring out certain qualities of myself and leave me wondering about who I am at the core. I think I've come to the conclusion that I'm just an enigma that can't be defined at any given time. :)
